As the days continue to pass you by, you start to shed a tear and wonder why. Look at the calendar and you will see, that you have forgotten that Valentine’s day is approaching thee.

Even during my time in high school, my friends and I would celebrate Valentine’s day by deciding who was going to be whose valentine. Some gave out old Hannah Montana Valentine’s cards, simple $2 red rose and stuffed animal sets purchased from a club room and cheesy letters how much we admired the strong bond of friendship. True, we were all not official love partners, we still showed how much we loved and cherished the group of friends we had.

Nevertheless, it is not shameful, or selfish, to give traditional material items to your partner; showing that you remember what they like, that they understand how much dedication and and consideration you went through in choosing the “perfect gift”  and how much you treasure them.

But for those that feel that they have run out of ideas, or gifts, to give to her on this romantic day, do not worry. Here are a few items that can easily say “I love you and want the best for you.”

Now I know what you’re thinking: Why a gift card? If I buy her the world, what would a piece of plastic do for her?

Let me tell you this: The Female world is both high maintenance and expensive.

When it comes to clothing, makeup, decor, food, drinks and any other luxurious items that women enjoy; there is a high price tag and a rather ‘picky’ situation. That fear of buying the wrong shoe size, the wrong colored shirt, a dress being either too big or too small, not knowing that you bought a Kat Von D eyeliner confusing it for a black lipstick liner.

Ironically enough, I had the opportunity to view both the tote and the products in person, with a recent visit to the mall for candle errands (Candle errands: my shortened way of bringing high importance to purchasing candles when I’m low on amazing scents).

Yes, you read that correctly, Flowers. However, not the common red roses, be unique and get a bouquet of various flowers.

For some women, they get tired of, or do not like, the common red roses. Find out if she has a flower in particular that she likes and work from there.

Now let’s say she’s allergic to flowers but you still want to surprise her with them; a trip to Rag Shop, Micheal’s, Joann, Hobby lobby or any other crafts store is worth it.

Also, if you’re unsure how to create the flower bouquet then do not fret, there are various DIY (Do it Yourself) Blogs and youtube videos that can give you helpful tips and creative ideas on the floral arrangements you may be looking for.

Listed are links to various videos and step by step images on different, creative floral arrangements; do not be fooled thinking “wedding”bouquets”can only be used for weddings!

However, if you do not want to toss rose petals on the floor to set the mood, knowing you will have to pick up each petal individually, then consider paper flowers.

Paper Flowers

With paper flowers, they’re less of a mess to clean up, they don’t perish quickly like other flowers and can be any unique color or design you like.

Also, do not be afraid to be creative with your paper flowers, your special someone will appreciate the creativity and effort you placed into creating this masterpiece.

  • Using different colored paper to create variations of flowers.
  • Writing small, positive words, such as, “Beautiful,” “Funny,” “unique,” “I love you.”
  • Paper with patterns, such as musical notes or polka dots.

If you do want to add scents to the paper flowers, strive to purchase a tiny spritz bottle of certain fragrance oils that you can quickly purchase from places, such as Bath and Body works, Arts and crafts stores, even your own perfume that you use on a daily basis.

Two way on how to add scents to the paper flowers:

The first one, as listed below, is my own method of apply a scent to the paper flowers. Yet, the second and third way, listed underneath my own, are from blog sites that have a more thorough approach to retaining scents.

What you will need:

  • Perfume

Instructions:

  1. Create a distance of 2 – 3 inches from the flower.
  2. Begin rotating the paper flower.
  3. As you rotate the flower, spray the perfume on it.
  4. Allow the flower to dry and retain the smell.
  5. Repeat this process for the other flowers.

DIY Scented Stationary  (via. Lines Across Blog)

What you will need:

  • Stationery, Cards, Paper
  • 2-3 sheets of cardstock
  • Large size tupperware (I used the inexpensive disposable kind, in the largest size available.
  • 3-5 cotton pads
  • Scent! You have a lot of options here: Essential oils (sold at stores like Whole Foods), Baking/Candy Flavor oils (sold in the baking section of craft stores), your personal perfume… or anything else that you can easily transfer onto a cotton pad.

 

How to make Fragrant Paper (via. Craftbits)

What you will need:

  • Your selected paper
  • Fragrant or essential oil
  • An airtight container

Besides the things listed, even the simplest thing, such as a collection of timeless memories, show how much time has gone by in your relationship and the many moments you’ve shared together so far.

So don’t toss away those “Fifty Shades Freed” ticket stubs.

 

Here are a few things to consider when making this:

  • Be careful when handling the original photos and any other significant papers.
  • If you do not truly feel comfortable with the originals, create copies.
  • It is your own choice how big or small you want the collage to be.
  • You do not need to include ‘everything’ within the collage.

Therefore, you will need a banana to cover your significant others eyes; let’s admit it, when we are getting a surprise, our hands just can’t keep themselves covering our eyes for long.

Before you attempt to blindfold your partner, just make sure that you are leading your partner carefully and that you are both safe. If you intend to drive somewhere, make sure you are the designated driver, lead your partner carefully into the car so they do not hurt themselves.

Nevertheless, Valentine’s Day is another significant day to celebrate the time you’ve spent with your loved one, or one’s, pets are included as well. Consider the following: Even if they are gone, the material items will not retain the true value of a funny conversation, the last feeling of their warm hug or even the moment of a morning kiss from your pet. Therefore, if you do, or do not, get a gift for your significant other, the time, memories and feelings created are what truly matters the most.
